Coordinating care with the public system
We’re committed to supporting you with high-quality treatment in partnership with the public health system. Our shared care model ensures your care is well-coordinated across both public and private settings.
Shared care is when a patient’s treatment is jointly managed by Doctors in both public hospitals and private practices. It may be offered as an option when part of your treatment is publicly funded and other parts involve recommended unfunded treatments.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Your estimate
You will be provided with an estimate outlining the costs associated with your treatment at Harbour Cancer and Wellness, including the required follow-up appointments. Learn more about treatment costs here.
Your first appointment
Your first appointment at Harbour Cancer and Wellness is an important step. It allows us to complete a clinical assessment, finalise your treatment plan, and ensure everything is in place before treatment begins. You will have the opportunity to ask any questions and meet with one of our nurses for orientation.
Ongoing follow-up appointments
To continue treatment safely, regular follow-up appointments are required at Harbour Cancer and Wellness. Even if you are seeing the same doctor in both public and private settings, you are still required to attend the appointments reflected in your estimate.
These appointments are essential and not optional under our model of care, as they allow us to monitor your progress, adjust your treatment as needed, and maintain clinical oversight. They also support effective coordination of your care and ensure clear, ongoing communication between our team and public health services involved in your treatment.
We understand that navigating care across different systems can be complex. Our team is here to make the process as smooth and supportive as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
