We are very happy to accept referrals for patients with almost any haematological concern, including cases where you may simply be seeking specialist advice or reassurance.
We are happy to see:
- Advice on abnormal FBCs and other haematological blood test abnormalities
- Lymphoma, CLL and lymphocytosis
- Multiple myeloma, MGUS, AL amyloidosis and abnormal protein electrophoresis
- Chronic myeloid leukaemia
- Histiocyte disorders
- Mast cell disorders, including systemic mastocytosisIron deficiency and iron overload
- Anaemia, thrombocytopenia and neutropenia
- Polycythaemia, erythrocytosis, thrombocytosis and neutrophilia
- Thrombosis, including DVT and pulmonary embolism
- Hereditary Haemorrhagic Telangiectasia, managed by Tom only
We do not currently see:
- Paediatric patients
- Acute myeloid leukaemia in patients fit for transplantation, generally <16 years old
- Burkitt’s lymphoma
- Haemophilia or complex bleeding disorders
- Complex thrombotic disorders

PROCESS AFTER REFERRAL
The typical process after referral at Harbour Cancer & Wellness.

STEP 1
FIRST SPECIALIST APPOINTMENT (FSA)
Your patient will meet with their consulting doctor to discuss their results and treatment options. Here are some common questions patients often ask us.

STEP 2
THEIR TREATMENT
PLAN
Typically, your patient will either be recommended an oral course of medication, or a course of intravenous treatment which which may require time in the day stay unit.

STEP 3
PRE-TREATMENT
ASSESSMENT
Your patient will meet their consulting doctor again to confirm the treatment plan, answer any questions they may have and complete paperwork.

STEP 4
FOLLOW-UP
APPOINTMENTS
Your patient’s consulting doctor will see them on a regular basis throughout their treatment and will keep you informed.
