Dr Gareth Rivalland
Medical Oncologist working at both Auckland Hospital and Harbour Clinical Trials. Gareth undertook specialist training in Auckland, then a research fellowship in Melbourne, Australia, before returning to New Zealand in 2017.
Gareth completed a Doctorate in Medical Science at the University of Melbourne, studying the immune microenvironment in small cell lung cancer. He has a strong interest in clinical trials and basic research, having been a Principal Investigator of multiple phase 1, 2 and 3 trials.
Gareth's research has been internationally recognised with an American Society of Clinical Oncology Merit Awards (2017). He has numerous research publications in high impact journals such as Lancet Oncology, Journal of Thoracic Oncology, Melanoma Research, and Journal of Surgical Oncology.

Dr Sanjeev Deva
Medical Oncologist working at both Auckland Hospital and Harbour Clinical Trials. Sanjeev completed a clinical fellowship in experimental oncology at Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital in London, before returning to Auckland in 2015. Sanjeev established the Auckland Cancer Trials Centre (ACTC) at Auckland Hospital - an early phase trial centre - and is currently the facility’s medical director. He splits his time between ACTC and Harbour Clinical Trials.

Dr Angela Mweempwa
Medical Oncologist working at both Auckland Hospital and Harbour Clinical Trials. After completing specialist training in Hamilton and Auckland, she undertook a clinical fellowship at Auckland Cancer Trials Centre.
Angela then expanded her expertise with a fellowship in Early Drug Development and Clinical Research at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne, Australia, where she also gained valuable experience in neuro-oncology at Royal Melbourne Hospital. This training equipped her to excel as an investigator in early-phase trials, enhancing her clinical research and cancer treatment skills. Since returning to New Zealand, Angela has continued to pursue her interest in clinical trials, serving as principal investigator on early phase studies.

Dr Soizick Mesnage
Medical Oncologist working at both Auckland Hospital and Harbour Clinical Trials. Soizick holds a Master of Science with First Class Honours and became a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians in 2016. She undertook a clinical research fellowship in oncology at the Gustave Roussy Institute, France. She also holds a clinical diploma in palliative care.
Soizick is Medical Oncology SMO at Auckland City Hospital. Her work on genomic and immune profiles in gynaecological cancers was recognised by the American Society of Clinical Onocology.
